Trump Says Biden Afraid of Being Impeached, Is He Right?

Trump backs Jim Jordan for future House Speaker role. The ex-president, previously uncertain about getting involved in the House leadership tussle, is now openly supporting the Ohio representative.

In the past, Jordan had disagreements with Republican top brass, notably with ex-Speaker John Boehner, who labeled him a political “agitator.”

However, as head of the House Judiciary Committee, Jordan emerged as a steadfast supporter of Trump, notably during Trump’s dual impeachment hearings. Trump recognized Jordan’s loyalty, bestowing upon him the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Moreover, Jordan consistently stood by McCarthy throughout his tenure, rallying for him during debates to remove him from leadership.

Anticipation of Jordan’s endorsement by Trump grew when Trump hinted at a potential visit to the Capitol soon and even expressed a willingness to act as a temporary House Speaker.

During a Fox News conversation, Trump revealed, “If they face challenges in their vote, they’ve inquired if I’d be open to stepping in as Speaker for a short while, given that I’m pursuing the presidency. They’ve asked if I’d accept the role temporarily for the party’s sake, until a long-term decision is made. I’m not pursuing it out of personal desire, but I’m open to helping if needed.”

Before the announcement of Trump supporting Jordan, sources close to Trump shared that he was ambivalent about visiting Washington to attend a GOP House gathering.

Should Trump decide to attend, insiders believe he’d be aiming to “motivate the party members” and demonstrate “direction” for a party still reeling from McCarthy’s removal by a GOP subset. According to these sources, Trump’s message would be for Republicans to quickly determine their new leadership, evading another lengthy, theatrical power struggle in the House.
