Should 2024 Presidential Election Results Be Announced The Same Day?

Biden Team Signs Up for Trump’s Truth Social Network

On Monday, the team behind Biden’s campaign made an unexpected move by setting up an account on Truth Social, the social network initiated by ex-President Trump, marking their presence in a space heavily frequented by Trump and his supporters.

“Taking a leap of faith here. Open arms for new supporters!” read the initial message from the campaign, using the @BidenHQ username.

Subsequently, they shared a video snippet showing Florida’s Governor Ron DeSantis, a Republican, questioning Trump’s handling of the national debt.

“Part of running a campaign means sometimes you embrace the unexpected, just for the fun of it,” commented Rob Flaherty, one of Biden’s deputy campaign managers, on a social media platform once known as Twitter, explaining their choice to engage with Truth Social.

The first to disclose the Biden campaign’s plans to participate in Truth Social was Fox News. The platform, established by Trump in 2021 and debuted in 2022, became his primary communication channel after his accounts were revoked from the then-named Twitter and several other prominent social media sites in the wake of the Capitol turmoil on January 6.

Since then, Trump’s primary digital interactions occur on Truth Social, where he commands an audience of over 6 million, a stark contrast to the approximately 87 million followers he once held on the platform now referred to as X.
