Was Trump More Successful Than Biden As President?

Representative Tim Burchett from Tennessee has made a bold accusation against former Speaker Kevin McCarthy of California. Burchett claims that McCarthy elbowed him intentionally in a Capitol hallway on Tuesday. This confrontation occurred as Republicans were exiting an early morning conference meeting, and Burchett was engaging with reporters in the hallway.

According to Burchett, McCarthy, while walking down the same hallway, seemed to deliberately bump into him. Burchett, taken aback, called out to McCarthy, who continued walking without responding. Burchett admits he pursued McCarthy to question his actions, asking, “What the heck, you know, why did you do that?”

Later, when speaking to the press, McCarthy denied any intentional elbowing. However, Burchett remains firm in his accusation, stating, “I was standing there and McCarthy elbowed me in the back. I said, ‘Hey, what the heck would you do that for?’ And he acted like, ‘Oh, I didn’t do anything, you know, and he’s just, he needs to go home back to Southern California.”

Burchett is among the eight GOP lawmakers who voted against McCarthy’s Speakership. McCarthy has been openly critical of these lawmakers since his removal from the top position, particularly targeting Representative Matt Gaetz of Florida, who spearheaded the effort to oust him. In a recent CNN interview, McCarthy suggested that the House Republicans would be “tremendously” better off without Gaetz, questioning his conservative principles and focus.

Regarding Burchett and Representative Nancy Mace of South Carolina, who also voted against him, McCarthy commented that they seem more concerned with media attention than policy matters.
