President Biden Encourages Unity in Thanksgiving Day Parade Call During the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, President Biden made a call to NBC’s Al Roker, emphasizing the need for Americans to unite and rise above political differences during the holiday season and beyond.

Speaking from Nantucket, Massachusetts, where he and First Lady Jill Biden were spending their Thanksgiving, the president stressed the importance of coming together as a nation. “We can have different political views, but we have one view. The one view is that we’re the finest, greatest nation in the world. We should focus on that,” Biden said.

The president also highlighted the need to address national issues collectively and with civility. He expressed his belief that the majority of Americans share this sentiment of unity and decency.

In addition to the parade call, the Bidens took the time to personally thank service members from each military branch, acknowledging their sacrifices for the nation’s freedom. This gratitude was shared on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

Biden’s message of unity extended to expressing thanks to firefighters, police officers, first responders, and troops, some of whom are serving abroad. The first family also visited the Nantucket Fire Department, where the first lady brought pumpkin pies as a gesture of appreciation.

During this visit, President Biden briefly addressed reporters, commenting on the impending short-term truce in the conflict between Israel and Hamas militants. The truce, facilitated by Qatari negotiators, is set to begin on Friday and is expected to involve the release of 50 hostages, including three Americans. Biden expressed hope for the safe return of a 3-year-old American girl but refrained from further comments until the deal is finalized.
