Nikki Haley Says Trump Doesn’t Have ‘Moral Clarity’ To Be President In 2024, You Agree?

Trump’s Lead Over DeSantis Grows in Latest National Survey

In a recent national survey conducted by Messenger/Harris, former President Donald Trump has extended his lead in the 2024 Republican primary race, outpacing Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. The poll, released on Thursday, indicates Trump’s commanding presence in the GOP field, garnering 68% support. This places him significantly ahead of DeSantis, who received 9%. Other notable figures in the poll include former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley with 7%, and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy at 4%.

This latest poll marks a notable increase for Trump, who rose six percentage points from a previous Messenger/Harris poll conducted earlier in the month, where he had 62% backing. Conversely, DeSantis saw a decrease, dropping three points from 12%. The survey also highlighted that the remaining GOP candidates are trailing significantly, each garnering 1% or less as the party approaches the Iowa caucuses in January, marking the start of the primary voting season.

Trump’s substantial lead has been a consistent feature of the Republican primary landscape, with DeSantis often viewed as his most formidable challenger. Recent trends, however, have shown Haley gaining traction, potentially challenging DeSantis for the second position. Yet, there remains skepticism about whether Haley or DeSantis could realistically challenge Trump’s position as the frontrunner.

The upcoming GOP primary debate, the fourth in the series, is scheduled to be held next week in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, and will be broadcasted by NewsNation, a Nexstar Media Group company. Interestingly, Trump has chosen to forgo this debate, as he has with previous ones, opting instead for a private fundraiser in Florida.

Additionally, the same poll revealed that Trump leads over President Biden in a hypothetical general election matchup, with Trump at 46% and Biden at 42%, leaving 13% of respondents undecided.
