Biden Claims His Top Economic Priority Is To Lower Costs For Americans, You Trust Him?
McCarthy Endorses Trump for 2024 Presidential Race
Former Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has publicly endorsed Donald Trump for the 2024 presidential race. In a forthcoming interview on “CBS Sunday Morning,” McCarthy expressed his belief that Trump will secure the Republican nomination and that he stands behind him. McCarthy, known for his close ties with Trump, anticipates a victory for Trump if he faces President Biden in the elections, foreseeing a strengthened Republican presence in both the House and the Senate.
During the interview, CBS News’ Robert Costa inquired if McCarthy would consider a Cabinet position under Trump. McCarthy showed openness to the idea, emphasizing his successful collaboration with Trump in policy-making and majority-winning efforts. He highlighted the importance of being honest in their relationship.
This endorsement follows McCarthy’s recent announcement of his departure from the House by year’s end, intending to contribute to America in new capacities. He wrote in The Wall Street Journal about his plans to continue attracting talented individuals into politics, aiming to nurture future Republican leaders.
McCarthy’s tenure as House Speaker, a role he held for about nine months, was historic as he was the first to be removed from this position. His political journey has been marked by his support for Trump, including endorsing Trump’s unfounded claims about the 2020 election fraud. However, they had a brief fallout after the January 6, 2021, Capitol insurrection, with McCarthy initially holding Trump accountable for the violence. Their relationship has since mended, with McCarthy retracting his earlier stance and supporting Trump against criticism within the party, such as in the case of Rep. Liz Cheney.
Despite occasional tensions, including issues over Trump’s endorsement and the handling of his impeachments, McCarthy has maintained his support for Trump, as evident in his latest endorsement. This move signals McCarthy’s ongoing commitment to the former president and his influence within the Republican Party.
