Cheney Accuses Trump of Being Racist, Is She Right?
Republican Senator Markwayne Mullin from Oklahoma has advised House Republicans against attempting to impeach President Joe Biden for actions committed before his presidency, which began in 2020. Speaking on Newsmax’s “Wake Up America,” Mullin highlighted the importance of focusing on conduct during Biden’s current term when considering impeachment. He emphasized that actions during Biden’s vice presidency or the period between his vice presidency and presidency are not grounds for impeachment.
Mullin called for a cautious approach to any impeachment efforts against Biden, noting the high standards required for conviction. His comments follow instances of Senate Republicans, including GOP Leader Mitch McConnell, acquitting former President Trump on technicalities, as he was no longer in office during his Senate trial.
Recently, the House authorized a formal impeachment inquiry into Biden, especially concerning allegations that he may have improperly benefited from his son Hunter Biden’s business dealings with foreign entities. Hunter Biden has maintained that his father had no financial involvement in his business activities.
House GOP investigators have been examining events from 2014 to 2017, covering the time when Biden was vice president and the period just after. Nonetheless, Republican senators like John Thune and John Cornyn have expressed skepticism about the chances of convicting Biden in a Senate controlled by Democrats. They point out that convicting and removing Biden would necessitate substantial Democratic support, a prospect that Mullin and others deem highly unlikely.
