Vehicle Collides with SUV in President Biden’s Motorcade at Delaware Event
President Biden and First Lady Jill Biden were unharmed following an incident where a car collided with an SUV belonging to the president’s motorcade in downtown Wilmington, Delaware, on Sunday evening.
The couple had been attending a reception with campaign staff in Wilmington, the location of Biden’s campaign headquarters. As they left the event around 8 p.m., President Biden paused to address a reporter’s question about his polling numbers compared to former President Trump, dismissing the relevance of the polls mentioned.
Shortly after, a sedan bearing Delaware license plates struck an SUV that was part of the motorcade, parked across from the campaign headquarters. At the time of the collision, the First Lady had already entered her vehicle, while the President was still outside his car.
Secret Service agents quickly moved to secure President Biden, escorting him into his vehicle, and approached the car that had hit the motorcade. The motorcade departed shortly after, and the President and First Lady safely returned to their home in Wilmington around 8:20 p.m.
The incident drew attention from bystanders, with one onlooker expressing surprise at the moment of the crash.
