Who Do You Predict Will Win 2024 Presidential Election, Trump or Biden?

Removal of Biden From 2024 Ballot?

In a recent development, Jay Ashcroft, the Secretary of State for Missouri, has made a bold statement suggesting the possibility of excluding President Biden from the election ballot. This move mirrors the efforts in other states to prevent former President Trump from running for a second term, primarily due to his involvement in the events at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.

The U.S. Supreme Court is currently poised to make a decision regarding Trump’s eligibility to feature on the Republican primary ballots in Colorado. This follows a ruling by the Colorado Supreme Court, which invoked the 14th Amendment’s insurrection clause to declare Trump ineligible. This ruling is significant as it marks the first instance in history where Section 3 of the 14th Amendment has been applied to disqualify a presidential candidate.

Similarly, the Secretary of State in Maine also ruled to exclude Trump from the ballot for analogous reasons. Trump is currently contesting this decision.

Ashcroft, a member of the Republican Party, criticized the actions in Colorado and Maine, labeling them as “disgraceful” and detrimental to the principles of the republic. He expressed his anticipation that the Supreme Court would overturn these decisions. However, he warned that if this did not happen, Secretaries of State would have to intervene to ensure that the legal standards applied to Trump would be equally applicable to Biden.

Ashcroft’s stance was echoed in a statement to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, where he emphasized the necessity of applying the rules uniformly, though he expressed reluctance about this course of action.

This scenario has been a source of contention, with Republicans particularly vocal in their criticism of attempts to remove Trump from the 2024 presidential election ballots. They argue that such moves counteract the democratic will of the voters.

In a similar vein, Dan Patrick, the Lieutenant Governor of Texas, suggested last month that Biden should be removed from the Texas ballot due to his handling of the southern border. In an interview with Fox News’ Laura Ingraham, Patrick pointed to the large number of people crossing the border since Biden’s presidency as a significant disruption.

In support of Trump, more than a dozen states, including Missouri, have submitted a letter to the Supreme Court, signaling their backing for his candidacy.
