Has President Biden United or Divided Americans?
Kamala Harris Dismisses Criticisms of Being ‘Incompetent’ in Vice Presidential Role
In a recent interview, Vice President Kamala Harris addressed criticisms about her ability to fulfill her role effectively. CNN’s Laura Coates brought up how some opponents use President Biden’s age to indirectly question Harris’s competence, framing it as a negative. Coates inquired about Harris’s reaction to these insinuations, particularly given her notable career trajectory.
Harris, reflecting on her path of breaking barriers, mentioned her history of being the first woman in several high-ranking positions, including district attorney, Attorney General of California, and now Vice President. She expressed her love for her job with a light-hearted laugh.
The conversation with CNN also covered the critical issue of abortion rights in the context of the upcoming presidential election. Harris emphasized the significance of the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, highlighting Congress’s role in potentially reinstating these rights. She argued that supporting women’s autonomy over their bodies does not necessitate abandoning one’s faith or personal beliefs.
In the interview, Harris voiced her concerns about the silent suffering of women due to restricted abortion access. She specifically criticized former President Donald Trump for his stance on abortion, suggesting he takes pride in the difficulties women now face in accessing abortion services and the limitations imposed on healthcare providers.
Moreover, Harris candidly shared her apprehensions about the prospect of Trump’s return to power in a separate appearance on “The View.” When co-host Joy Behar asked about her fears regarding a potential Trump victory in light of comments from former President Obama and Former First Lady Michelle Obama, Harris admitted to being “scared as heck.” She emphasized the importance of not succumbing to fear but confronting and fighting against it.
