72% Americans Say President Biden Should Not Run For Re-Election, You Agree?

Pelosi Breaks With Democrats

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) addressed concerns about President Biden stepping down following his poorly received debate performance, emphasizing that she is not among those calling for his resignation.

“I don’t know who’s doing that,” Pelosi remarked when questioned about Democratic calls for Biden to make way for a new contender against former President Trump. This statement was broadcast on MSNBC, with anchor Ali Velshi sharing the audio clip during his show on Saturday.

Pelosi firmly stated, “I’m not doing it.”

President Biden’s debate performance, marked by a raspy voice and verbal missteps, has fueled apprehensions within his party regarding his suitability as the Democratic nominee. The debate, held against former President Trump, led to widespread unease and doubts about Biden’s effectiveness in the upcoming election. Prominent Democrats, including former aides of President Obama, did not shy away from expressing their concerns about the debate.

Jon Favreau, a former Obama administration speechwriter and co-host of “Pod Save America,” was notably blunt in his assessment, tweeting on platform X, “Obviously that debate was a f—ing disaster. We have to beat Donald Trump. We have to have a nominee who can do that.”

David Axelrod, a former senior adviser to Obama and a seasoned Democratic strategist, acknowledged the party’s shaken confidence post-debate. “I think there was a sense of shock, actually, at how he came out at the beginning of this debate. How his voice sounded. He seemed a bit disoriented. He did get stronger as the debate went on,” Axelrod commented. “I think you’re going to hear discussions that I don’t know will lead to anything, but there are going to be discussions about whether he should continue.”

In response to the debate fallout, Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) urged Democrats to remain calm amidst the growing anxieties. “I refuse to join the Democratic vultures on Biden’s shoulder after the debate. No one knows more than me that a rough debate is not the sum total of the person and their record,” Fetterman stated in a post on X. He encouraged his fellow party members to “chill the f— out” despite the rising tensions.
