Lauren Boebert Backstabs Trump, Regrets
President Donald Trump publicly threatened Saturday to withdraw his endorsement of Representative Lauren Boebertafter she appeared on the campaign trail alongside Representative Thomas Massie ahead of his closely watched Republican primary contest.
In a series of posts on Truth Social, Trump sharply criticized Boebert for supporting Massie, whom the president has increasingly targeted in recent weeks over disagreements inside the Republican Party.
Trump described Boebert as “weak-minded” and even floated the idea of backing another Republican challenger against her in Colorado’s 4th Congressional District despite previously endorsing her campaign.
The president argued that anyone campaigning on behalf of Massie deserved a serious primary challenge, intensifying an already growing feud between Trump and several Republicans who have occasionally broken with him on key issues.
Boebert moved to Colorado’s heavily Republican 4th District during the 2024 election cycle in an effort to avoid a difficult and crowded race in her former district. According to state election filings, she currently faces no Republican challenger in next year’s primary.
Despite years of being one of Trump’s strongest allies in Congress, tensions between the two have surfaced more frequently in recent months.
Boebert criticized Trump late last year after he vetoed legislation tied to a major water infrastructure project in southeastern Colorado. She has also aligned herself with Massie on several controversial issues, including support for efforts to force the release of government files related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
Following Trump’s latest attacks, Boebert responded on social media by saying she was neither angry nor offended by the president’s comments. She acknowledged that supporting Massie carried political risks but insisted she remains committed to the “America First” movement and Trump’s broader political agenda.
Trump separately escalated his criticism of Massie, calling the Kentucky congressman disloyal and accusing him of repeatedly undermining the Republican Party and the MAGA movement.
Massie now faces a closely watched Republican primary battle against retired Navy SEAL Ed Gallrein, whom Trump has strongly endorsed as a loyal supporter of his political platform.
Boebert traveled to Kentucky alongside Senator Rand Paul to campaign for Massie over the weekend, a move that clearly frustrated Trump.
The escalating conflict highlights growing divisions inside the Republican Party between Trump loyalists and conservative lawmakers who occasionally challenge the former president on spending, foreign policy, and congressional oversight issues.
With several high-profile primaries approaching, the feud could become another major test of Trump’s continued influence over Republican voters and elected officials heading into the next election cycle.
