Trump Voters Say America Would Be Better Under Who?

A new poll suggests some voters who supported President Trump in the 2024 election believe gasoline prices would be lower today if former Vice President Kamala Harris had won the White House.

According to a Politico survey released Wednesday, 31 percent of Trump’s 2024 voters said gas prices have increased more under Trump’s presidency than they believe they would have under a Democratic administration. Thirty-five percent said prices would have risen by about the same amount regardless of who was president, while 34 percent said gasoline would have become even more expensive under a Democrat.

The findings come as fuel prices remain a major concern for voters ahead of the 2026 midterm elections, with the economy expected to be one of the dominant campaign issues.

The conflict with Iran has placed additional pressure on global oil markets, contributing to higher gasoline prices. Fighting in the region and disruptions affecting the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil shipping routes, have pushed energy costs higher since the United States and Israel launched military strikes against Iran in February.

Although fuel prices briefly eased during a temporary ceasefire, they have begun climbing again as hostilities resumed in recent weeks, renewing concerns about inflation and household costs.
