Trump To Make Major Decision Soon

President Trump said Thursday that he is seriously considering expanding U.S. military operations against Iran, including launching strikes larger than those carried out during Operation Epic Fury, though he stressed that no final decision has been made.

Speaking in a brief interview, Trump said he is “close” to making a decision but declined to provide a timeline. Two U.S. officials also said no final authorization has been issued and the military has not received new orders.

“I am considering a massive attack. Bigger than ever before. I am close to making a decision. We are all set for it,” Trump said.

The president added that Israel would join a new offensive “in two minutes” if asked but argued the United States does not need assistance to carry out additional strikes. He also warned there would be consequences if Israel became directly involved, suggesting Iran could retaliate against its longtime regional adversary.

Trump said Iranian leaders still want to negotiate but have not yet reached the point where they are prepared to accept a deal.

“They haven’t received enough pain yet,” he said.

Regional officials familiar with ongoing mediation efforts said Iran has not accepted the latest proposal aimed at ending the conflict. One source said negotiations remain stalled because Iranian officials have been unwilling to move forward with the current framework.

The comments come as fighting between the United States and Iran has intensified over the past two weeks. U.S. officials say the military campaign is intended to counter Iranian attacks on commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz and reduce Tehran’s military capabilities. Iran has continued its own military operations, escalating attacks throughout the region.

The conflict has also expanded beyond the Persian Gulf. Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen have stepped up attacks on Saudi vessels in the Red Sea, adding pressure to another key global shipping route and contributing to rising energy prices. Oil has climbed above $100 per barrel amid concerns that the fighting could further disrupt global supplies, while renewed military action remains unpopular with many Americans.

Trump also warned on Truth Social that Iran would be held responsible if the Houthis continue attacking ships in the Red Sea. Calling the Houthis an Iranian proxy, he said any future attacks would result in severe military consequences for both the rebel group and Iran.

Separately, Trump said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, a close Trump ally, is expected to attend the wake for the late Sen. Lindsey Graham in Washington next week. The president said relations between the two leaders remain strong and indicated he would meet with Netanyahu if he travels to the nation’s capital.
