Trump Makes Shocking Decision Over The Weekend

President Trump ordered the U.S. military to halt new strikes against Iran on Friday, ending nearly two weeks of daily military operations, according to multiple reports from sources familiar with the decision.

The move followed 13 consecutive days during which Trump approved strike plans submitted by military commanders. While it remains unclear whether the pause is temporary or marks a broader shift in strategy, officials said the military remains prepared to resume operations quickly if the president authorizes additional attacks.

According to those familiar with the matter, Trump reviewed another strike proposal Friday afternoon but declined to approve it, instead instructing military leaders to stand down.

Hours later, Trump told reporters that he still has the option of resuming or even expanding military action against Iran, saying the U.S. is fully prepared if necessary. However, he indicated he believes pursuing a diplomatic agreement is currently the better course of action.

“We’re talking to them right now,” Trump said, adding that Iranian officials appear to be taking negotiations more seriously as discussions continue. He emphasized that while the U.S. remains ready for military action, his preference is to reach a deal.

Later Friday evening, the president reiterated that Iran does not appear ready to finalize an agreement but said he remains open to continued negotiations.

Israeli officials had reportedly expected another round of U.S. strikes and spent much of Friday preparing for the possibility of a larger military operation that could have triggered retaliatory attacks against Israel. Military and government officials remained on high alert until they were informed later that evening that Trump had decided not to authorize additional strikes.

The decision came as diplomatic efforts were also gaining momentum. An Omani delegation arrived in Tehran on Friday for talks aimed at reaching a new agreement related to the Strait of Hormuz, a key global shipping route. Officials familiar with the negotiations said progress has been made and suggested an agreement could be reached in the coming days.

If negotiators finalize a proposal, Trump is expected to decide whether the United States will accept the terms or pursue a different course.
