Kaitlan Collins Insults Trump Again, Says What?

CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins is dismissing President Trump’s personal attacks, saying she has no interest in turning her exchanges with the president into a personal feud and believes the focus should remain on the reporting itself.

During an appearance on The Daily Show, Collins said she has always viewed her role as covering the president rather than becoming part of the story. Having covered both the Biden and Trump administrations, she said she tries not to react personally when criticized by the president.

Instead, Collins said she believes Trump’s criticism often reflects frustration with the reporting itself. She suggested he was particularly upset by the White House Correspondents’ Association honoring her journalism with an award recognizing her coverage of his administration.

According to Collins, when Trump attacks her personally, she sees it as an opportunity to remind viewers about the reporting and the questions that prompted his reaction, as well as the answers he declined to provide.

Her comments came after Trump criticized her during last week’s White House Correspondents’ Association dinner, where he mocked both Collins and CNN while dismissing the journalism award she received, calling it “fake.”

The president also made remarks about Collins’ appearance, comparing her to transgender social media personality Dylan Mulvaney. Mulvaney later brushed off the comparison publicly.

Trump has repeatedly criticized Collins throughout his presidency, frequently challenging her reporting during press events and questioning her work. Earlier this year, he also remarked that she should smile more during an exchange with reporters at the White House.

The president has maintained a long-running feud with CNN, regularly accusing the network of biased coverage and criticizing its reporting while expressing support for changes in the network’s ownership and direction.
