Trump Promises What About Greenland?

President Trump said he believes the United States could gain control of Greenland before the end of his current term, renewing his long-standing argument that the Arctic territory is vital to America’s national security and future defense strategy.

Speaking during a phone interview Friday with Real America’s Voice host Steve Gruber, Trump responded confidently after Gruber predicted Greenland would be under U.S. operational control before Trump leaves office in 2029.

“You should make that bet, actually,” Trump replied, signaling he believes such an outcome is possible.

Trump has repeatedly argued that Greenland is strategically important as the United States competes with Russia and China for influence in the Arctic. The island sits in a key location between North America and Europe and is home to valuable rare earth minerals and other critical resources used in defense and advanced technology.

The United States already maintains a military presence at Pituffik Space Base in northern Greenland, which plays a major role in missile warning systems and space surveillance operations.

Greenland’s leaders continue to reject any suggestion of becoming part of the United States. Greenland Prime Minister Jens-Frederik Nielsen has previously stated that the island is “not for sale” and insisted its future should be decided by its own people.

Danish officials have also dismissed the idea, reiterating that Greenland is a self-governing territory within the Kingdom of Denmark and that its sovereignty is not open for negotiation.

Despite the pushback, Trump has continued making the case that Greenland is essential to protecting U.S. interests in the Arctic, where military activity and competition from Russia and China have steadily increased. His administration has consistently framed the issue as one of national security rather than territorial expansion.
