Marjorie Greene Shamelessly Mocks Trump
Former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) is taking another swipe at President Donald Trump and his movement, joking that she cannot remember the last time she saw someone wearing the president’s signature MAGA hat or a Trump shirt.
Greene made the comment Monday after sharing a photo on X showing a billboard advertising a “Trump Superstore” next to a sign indicating that the business was going out of business.
“I can’t remember the last time I saw someone wearing a maga hat or Trump shirt,” Greene wrote.
The remark is notable given Greene’s history as one of Trump’s most vocal supporters during her time in Congress. She was once closely aligned with the president and became one of the most recognizable figures associated with the MAGA movement.
That relationship eventually deteriorated, however, as Greene increasingly challenged Trump and other Republican leaders over several issues.
Her break with Trump became particularly pronounced during the controversy surrounding the release of government documents related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Greene was one of a small group of House Republicans who supported a procedural effort to force a vote on legislation requiring the release of the files.
The measure ultimately passed both chambers of Congress and was signed into law by Trump. But the subsequent handling of the documents by the Justice Department, including extensive redactions, sparked anger among lawmakers who had pushed for greater transparency.
Greene’s frustrations with the Trump administration also extended to congressional Republicans and their handling of a lengthy government shutdown. Her criticism increasingly put her at odds with the president and Republican leadership.
Trump eventually turned his attacks toward his former ally, using the nickname “Marjorie Traitor Brown” as their relationship deteriorated.
Greene later announced that she would leave Congress, saying she did not want to remain in a political environment she compared to being a “battered wife.” Her departure did not end her criticism of Trump.
Since leaving the House, Greene has continued to challenge the president on issues including the economy, the war with Iran and the effect of rising costs on American families.
Earlier this year, she told conspiracy theorist Alex Jones that Americans who had supported Trump for years needed to recognize that, in her view, the president had changed.
Greene’s latest comment about the MAGA merchandise may appear relatively minor, but it fits into a broader pattern of criticism from a former Trump ally who has increasingly questioned whether the movement and the president are still what they once were.
For someone who once stood firmly behind Trump and his political brand, her observation about seeing fewer MAGA hats and Trump shirts carries a pointed message: Greene believes something has changed among the president’s supporters, and she wants people to notice it.
