Trump motorcade Caught Doing What?

President Donald Trump’s trip from Texas to Oklahoma took an unexpected turn Thursday when severe weather forced a change in his travel plans.

Instead of flying to his next event, Trump and his motorcade traveled roughly 90 miles by road from Denton, Texas, to Durant, Oklahoma. Members of the press traveling with the president reported that the motorcade reached speeds of about 98 mph during the trip.

Trump had been scheduled to travel by helicopter, but stormy conditions prevented the aircraft from making the trip. With his Oklahoma appearance at risk of being delayed or canceled, the president opted to make the journey by car.

Trump later highlighted the unusual trip on social media, saying the presidential limousine, known as “The Beast,” was traveling faster than he had ever seen it go.

He told supporters in Oklahoma that weather had prevented both planes and helicopters from landing and that he had rejected suggestions to postpone the event.

The president eventually arrived in Durant approximately two hours behind schedule. Speaking to the crowd, Trump described the decision to drive as a last-minute effort to keep the appearance on the calendar.

According to Trump, he asked how quickly the presidential vehicle could travel after learning that flying was no longer an option. He then instructed his team to get moving toward Oklahoma.

The president also used the appearance to emphasize his political history in the state. Trump said making it to Oklahoma was important to him because of the support he has received there during his presidential campaigns.

He pointed out that he carried Oklahoma in each of his three presidential elections and claimed that he won every county in the state each time.

The weather disruption turned what would normally have been a routine short flight into an unusual high-speed motorcade trip, allowing Trump to reach the Oklahoma rally despite the conditions that had grounded the presidential aircraft.
