Cotton Backs Trump, Claims Decline Under Biden’s Leadership

Senator Tom Cotton has officially declared his support for former President Trump’s 2024 Republican nomination campaign. In a conversation with Fox News Digital, he expressed his eagerness to collaborate with Trump to regain control of the White House and the Senate, emphasizing the need to steer the nation back on the right path.

Cotton, a Republican from Arkansas, praised Trump’s presidency to Fox News Digital, noting, “During Trump’s tenure, America was secure, robust, and thriving.” He contrasted this with the current Biden administration, which he criticized for high grocery prices, an uncontrolled border situation, and escalating global conflicts.

His endorsement of Trump is accompanied by a commitment to work alongside him to overcome the challenges posed by what he perceives as Biden’s failing policies, particularly for the hardworking people of Arkansas. “It’s time to set our country on the right course again,” Cotton added.

Cotton and Trump previously collaborated on immigration and border security issues. In 2017, Trump supported a bill introduced by Cotton and then-Senator David Perdue. This bill, known as the Reforming American Immigration for a Strong Economy (RAISE) Act, aimed to transform the U.S. legal immigration system into a more merit-based model, proposing to cut the number of green cards issued annually from 1 million to 500,000. The bill focused on prioritizing immigrants with specific skill sets beneficial to the U.S. while protecting American jobs. Although the bill did not pass, it gained significant attention during its introduction at a White House ceremony.

A source close to Cotton mentioned the senator’s intention to collaborate with Trump on immigration reform if Trump secures a second term.

Cotton’s support for Trump aligns with the growing trend of GOP senators endorsing the 2024 Republican frontrunner. He joins a group of nearly two dozen Republican senators backing Trump, including Senators JD Vance from Ohio, Marsha Blackburn from Tennessee, Rick Scott from Florida, Josh Hawley and Eric Schmitt from Missouri, Lindsey Graham from South Carolina, and others.
