Is Biden’s Economy Great Like Pelosi Claims?
Trump States Difficulty in Enjoying Retirement ‘Golden Years’ Without Immunity
Former President Trump recently stated that without the broad protection of presidential immunity, retired U.S. presidents would struggle to enjoy their retirement due to constant legal challenges. He made these remarks in a series of posts on Truth Social, following his appearance at a federal appeals court in Washington.
Trump emphasized the difficulty of enjoying retirement for a president without immunity, citing the potential for continuous legal attacks from aggressive prosecutors. He suggested that this was a situation he was currently facing, but without the benefits of retirement.
Highlighting the implications for future presidents, Trump warned that removing presidential immunity could lead to frequent prosecutions of former presidents by opposing political parties. He also pointed out that this would affect not only him but also others like President Joe Biden.
In a court hearing about a motion to dismiss election interference charges against him, Trump’s lawyer, John Sauer, argued that a president could only face criminal prosecution after a Senate conviction. Trump, who is facing four criminal indictments, including two related to his efforts to remain in power after the 2020 election, was acquitted in his second impeachment trial. This acquittal came despite a majority of senators, including seven Republicans, voting to convict; however, they fell short of the required two-thirds majority.
