Trump: Supreme Court Must Act Now

Former President Donald Trump has urged the U.S. Supreme Court to step in regarding his criminal trial in New York, which concluded with his conviction on July 11. Trump, facing sentencing just days before the Republican National Convention, decried the timing and circumstances of his conviction as politically motivated on Truth Social.

Trump was found guilty by a New York jury on all 34 counts of falsifying business records to clandestinely influence the 2016 election by making payments to an adult film actress. He criticized the proceedings, labeling them as a setup by a “Radical Left Soros-backed D.A.” and a biased acting judge, both allegedly targeting him due to their political affiliations.

Asserting his innocence and decrying what he termed as unconstitutional actions by the court, Trump highlighted the urgency of the matter, stating that the Supreme Court must make a ruling due to the significant national implications of his case. He pointed to the alleged ignorance of the crime by the public until it was outlined by the judge, whom he accused of facilitating an unprecedented and illegitimate case against him.

Trump, who is the presumptive Republican nominee for this year’s presidential election, has promised to appeal his conviction. He also thanked former British Prime Mason Boris Johnson for his support, who described the trial as a politically motivated attack likely to boost Trump’s election prospects rather than hinder them. The Republican National Convention is set to take place from July 15-18 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
