Trump Wants Who Locked Up?

President Donald Trump on Thursday called for Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) to be removed from Congress, arguing that the Maryland lawmaker would be behind bars if he had not received a pardon from former President Joe Biden.

Trump’s comments came in response to a social media post from conservative commentator Mark Levin, who claimed Raskin is preparing another impeachment effort if Democrats regain control of the House after the November elections.

Taking to Truth Social, Trump accused Raskin of spending years trying unsuccessfully to remove him from office and predicted the congressman would attempt another impeachment campaign.

“Jamie Raskin has spent years attacking me and wasting taxpayer resources on failed impeachment efforts,” Trump wrote. “Despite one of the most successful presidencies in history, he’s likely preparing to do it all over again.”

Raskin played a prominent role on the House committee that investigated the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot and was among the lawmakers who supported Trump’s impeachment following the attack. Ahead of Trump’s return to office, Biden issued pardons to several members of that committee after Trump had suggested they could face legal consequences.

Trump argued that the pardon protected Raskin from criminal exposure.

“If Biden hadn’t pardoned him, he’d be in jail right now,” Trump claimed. “People like this continue to damage the country and never seem to face accountability for their actions.”

The president went on to endorse Levin’s suggestion that Congress remove Raskin from office.

“I agree with Mark Levin — expel him,” Trump wrote. “Congress cannot function properly with people driven by nothing but hatred and Trump Derangement Syndrome.”

Raskin quickly fired back during an appearance on MSNBC, suggesting Trump’s remarks reflected lingering frustration over past impeachment proceedings.

“It sounds like the president is still having flashbacks about impeachment,” Raskin said.

The Maryland Democrat argued that avoiding impeachment is simple.

“There’s an easy way not to get impeached,” he said. “Stop committing impeachable offenses.”

Raskin went on to criticize several Trump administration actions, including military decisions, spending policies, and tariffs, arguing that Congress — not the president alone — holds constitutional authority over many of those matters.

“The president needs a basic lesson in the Constitution,” Raskin said.

The latest exchange highlights the continuing political feud between Trump and one of his most outspoken congressional critics as both parties look ahead to the high-stakes midterm elections.
