Another Biden To Run In 2028 Presidential Elections
Hunter Biden jokingly floated the idea of joining California Governor Gavin Newsom on a future presidential ticket during a recent appearance on the governor’s podcast, adding another headline to his growing return to the political spotlight.
During an episode of Newsom’s podcast, the California governor playfully introduced Biden as a potential presidential candidate, referencing recent comments President Trump made about Biden’s political future.
Newsom noted that Trump had recently discussed Biden’s prospects during a conversation with reporters at the White House.
Responding with humor, Biden suggested he would only be interested in running if he could serve as vice president.
“I’d do it only as your running mate,” Biden joked to Newsom. “Besides, the vice president’s residence is better and the job seems a lot easier.”
The lighthearted exchange came after Trump was asked whether Hunter Biden could ever mount a successful political campaign. Trump responded by pointing to Biden’s past controversies and questioned whether voters would overlook them.
Biden later fired back on social media, poking fun at Trump’s remarks and suggesting that many public figures have complicated personal histories.
During the podcast appearance, Biden also weighed in on a separate controversy involving a Democratic Senate candidate who has faced scrutiny over private messages and allegations tied to his personal life.
Biden argued that modern political campaigns often place intense focus on private behavior and suggested many people would struggle under that level of examination.
“Show me your phone,” Biden said while discussing the issue. “Let people go through every message, every photo, every mistake you’ve made over the years, and see how many people come out looking perfect.”
He added that if personal digital histories become the primary standard for judging candidates, fewer people may be willing to enter public service.
The comments mark another high-profile appearance for Biden, who has become increasingly active in political discussions after spending years largely outside the spotlight.
During his father’s presidency, Biden frequently drew attention because of his legal troubles and past struggles with addiction, making him a frequent target of Republican criticism.
More recently, however, he has developed a significant following online, where he regularly comments on politics, engages with critics, and speaks openly about his recovery journey.
Earlier this month, Biden publicly marked another year of sobriety and has continued to discuss both his personal struggles and political issues while building a larger presence on social media.
His latest appearance with Newsom is likely to fuel additional speculation and discussion, even if his remarks about a future White House run were clearly made in jest.
