Trump Picks Who To Replace Lindsey Graham?

Earlier Monday, Trump revealed on Truth Social that he had suggested to South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster that Nordone serve as the state’s interim U.S. senator until a permanent replacement is chosen.

Darline Graham Nordone, the sister of the late Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), said she is still grieving after President Donald Trump publicly recommended that she be appointed to temporarily fill her brother’s vacant Senate seat.

Speaking with the New York Post on Monday, Nordone said she was overwhelmed by the loss of her brother and not focused on politics.

“Actually, I’m just kind of like devastated right now,” she told the newspaper.

Trump praised Graham’s sister, calling her a fitting tribute to the longtime South Carolina senator and noting that Graham cared deeply for her.

Lindsey Graham died Saturday at the age of 71 while serving in the Senate and campaigning for a fifth term. During his time in Congress, he chaired the Senate Budget Committee and served on the Judiciary Committee, the Appropriations Committee, and the Committee on Environment and Public Works. He was also widely recognized for his strong views on national defense and foreign policy.

On Sunday, the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for Washington, D.C., said Graham died from an aortic dissection related to arteriosclerotic cardiovascular disease. Officials said the death certificate remains pending until toxicology and additional laboratory testing are completed, after which the official cause and manner of death will be finalized.
