Shocking Discovery At Trump’s Reflecting Pool Accusations

Federal investigators are assisting in the investigation into damage at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool after President Donald Trump alleged that vandals caused extensive harm to the recently renovated landmark.

The restoration project, which cost more than $16 million, included a newly installed liner selected by Trump. Shortly after the renovation was completed, the pool experienced algae blooms that turned the water green, prompting additional treatment efforts. The pool has remained closed to the public for several weeks while repairs continue.

Trump has repeatedly blamed vandals for damaging the pool, claiming individuals used blades to cut large sections of the liner. Over time, the president has described the alleged damage using varying estimates of its length, most recently saying the cuts stretched approximately 300 yards. Earlier, he had described the damage as measuring 250 feet and later 350 feet.

The pool was drained earlier this week, allowing investigators to inspect the surface more closely. According to reports, FBI evidence response personnel were seen at the site using laser-scanning and measuring equipment while assisting the U.S. Park Police with their investigation.

An FBI spokesperson confirmed that the bureau’s Washington Field Office Evidence Response Team is supporting the U.S. Park Police as they examine damage to the Reflecting Pool. Federal officials have not publicly released details about the evidence collected or identified any suspects.

Photographs of the drained pool have also drawn attention because the liner appears gray rather than the bright blue color initially associated with the renovation. Some media reports have questioned whether the visible damage matches the descriptions previously provided by Trump, with reporters at the scene saying they could not identify the extensive cuts the president has described.

Trump said the pool had to be drained to repair the damage and restore the waterproof liner before it can reopen. He has maintained that the vandalism required significant repairs and said the Reflecting Pool will be refilled and returned to service once the work is complete.

Government contracting records indicate that fencing surrounding the Reflecting Pool is scheduled to remain in place through early January 2027 under a contract awarded to National Construct Rentals Inc., suggesting the area could remain restricted while repairs and related work continue.
