Trump Security Scare – Armed Man Arrested

An armed man was arrested at a California golf course after authorities say he was seen photographing and recording security preparations ahead of President Donald Trump’s scheduled visit to the area.

The suspect, 38-year-old Jeanine John Taele, was taken into custody Sunday at Trump National Golf Club Los Angeles in Ranchos Palos Verdes, according to federal authorities. Prosecutors say Taele was observed documenting security-planning activity in the days leading up to Trump’s West Coast trip.

The arrest immediately raised concerns because the golf course was preparing for a presidential visit, although investigators have not determined whether Taele actually intended to harm Trump.

Federal authorities said Taele is facing multiple weapons charges, including allegations involving possession of an unregistered short-barreled rifle. Investigators also discovered ammunition on him, while a search of his vehicle reportedly turned up a loaded handgun with a round already chambered, along with a loaded magazine.

Taele pleaded not guilty Tuesday to four charges. Three of the charges stem from his arrest at the golf course, while another robbery charge relates to an alleged November 2025 incident, authorities said.

First Assistant U.S. Attorney for the Central District of California Bilal Essayli said Taele had been seen taking photographs and recording video of security operations connected to Trump’s upcoming visit.

That detail has drawn particular attention given the heightened security surrounding the president following several attempts to target him in recent years.

Trump was wounded during a 2024 campaign rally in Pennsylvania when a bullet grazed his ear. Months later, another armed man was arrested after allegedly positioning himself near Trump’s golf course in West Palm Beach, Florida. More recently, authorities arrested a suspect following an alleged attempt to target Trump near the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner in April.

Against that backdrop, the discovery of an armed individual allegedly documenting security preparations at a Trump property has added another layer of concern for law enforcement.

Authorities have stressed that the investigation remains active, and officials have not concluded that Taele represented a direct threat to the president.

Trump was scheduled to visit California as part of a broader effort to promote his economic agenda ahead of the November midterm elections. He attended Republican fundraising events at his Los Angeles golf club Tuesday before traveling to Las Vegas to highlight tax cuts and other provisions of his legislative agenda.

Republican National Committee Chair Joe Greuters praised law enforcement for the arrest, saying he was grateful that authorities intervened before the situation could potentially escalate.

The case is expected to remain under investigation as federal officials work to determine why Taele was allegedly recording security activity and what, if any, connection his actions had to Trump’s planned visit.
