Harris Conducts Private Session Aimed at Broadening Voter Participation

Vice President Kamala Harris convened a private meeting on Tuesday focused on increasing voter registration efforts.

Harris opened the meeting with a seven-minute address emphasizing the critical need to safeguard voting rights and protect poll workers. Following her remarks, the media was escorted out, and the discussions continued in privacy.

According to Axios, the meeting featured a strategic roundtable with participation from over 20 voting rights organizations.

In her address, Harris highlighted the initiative to designate three national days dedicated to voting-related activities. She announced, “Today, I’m excited to share that we are setting aside three national days of action. These days will serve as opportunities for us to enhance our engagement with communities, build stronger coalitions, and empower local leadership with the knowledge and tools to lead. The days we’ve chosen for these actions are Juneteenth, the anniversary of the Voting Rights Act on August 6, and National Voter Registration Day on September 24.”

The specifics of how these designated days will be leveraged to boost voter registration efforts remain unspecified, given the confidential nature of the meeting.
