Biden Edges Out Trump in Fox News Poll, You Agree?

Sen. John Fetterman expressed concern on Wednesday about the quality of representatives in the U.S. Congress, suggesting that the nation is failing to delegate its “most capable minds” for legislative duties.

During his interview on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,” the Democrat from Pennsylvania shared his astonishment and concern over the individuals entrusted with critical governmental decisions. He described the situation as alarming.

Recounting the recent near-miss government shutdown, Fetterman discussed how the government’s operational funding was extended into mid-November following a last-minute continuing resolution passed by both the House and Senate. He highlighted the precarious nature of the process, where the potential objection of a single senator out of 99 could have led to a complete government shutdown.

Fetterman criticized the disproportionate power vested in individuals who, in his view, might lack the necessary acumen and could be motivated by the prospect of political grandstanding, particularly on platforms like Fox News, rather than the nation’s best interest.

In light of the House Republicans’ ongoing challenges in selecting a new Speaker following the recent ousting of Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), Colbert inquired whether the senators felt somewhat relieved not to be seen as the most chaotic branch of the government. Fetterman responded wryly, indicating that it’s not much of an achievement considering the circumstances.

Emphasizing the severity of the dysfunction within the government, the senator, aged 54, urged the public to recognize the gravity of the situation, assuring them that the reality is even more troubling than it appears.
