Can Trump Flip New York This November?

Ocasio-Cortez Mocks Trump

Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) playfully noted the unfavorable weather expected at former President Trump’s upcoming rally in the Bronx.

In a post on the social platform X, she wrote, “God is Good,” on Thursday, referencing the predicted rain for the rally location at Crotona Park around 10 a.m. that day.

Ocasio-Cortez had previously critiqued Trump for organizing a rally in a predominantly Democratic area of the South Bronx, likening his situation to that of someone confined by a “legal version of an ankle bracelet.”

“Donald Trump is broke. He’s trying to swindle people to pay off his legal fees by hosting a rally,” she asserted.

Trump had declared his intention to hold the rally in Crotona Park, situated in one of the borough’s most culturally diverse neighborhoods. His announcement came as he faces a forthcoming jury verdict in Manhattan on 34 felony charges in a hush money case.

Echoing Ocasio-Cortez’s sentiment, Representative Ritchie Torres (D-N.Y.), whose district includes the rally site, also criticized Trump’s decision. Torres argued that Trump’s only legitimate place in the Bronx would be in its criminal court.

“Donald Trump is a criminal suspect dealing with 91 felony counts, looking for ways to avoid accountability,” Torres said in a post on X on Wednesday. “He should be in the Bronx Criminal Court, not hosting public events.”
