Do You Blame Biden For The War In Israel?
Haley Criticizes Trump’s ‘Irresponsible’ Comments on Milley
Nikki Haley, a GOP presidential contender, recently expressed her disapproval of comments made by former President Trump regarding Gen. Mark Milley.
Speaking to Kristen Welker on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Haley said, “Such remarks are unnecessary and thoughtless. Anyone who has served our nation warrants our utmost respect. As the wife of a currently deployed combat veteran, I understand the profound sacrifices made by service members and their families. They deserve recognition and gratitude.”
Her comments align with others within the Republican Party who have taken issue with Trump’s sharp criticisms of Milley. Last month, Trump hinted that Milley should face the harshest of punishments for his communications with China during the final stages of his presidency, equating his actions with treason. Notably, Chris Christie and former Vice President Mike Pence, both GOP presidential candidates, disagreed with Trump’s viewpoint.
Following Trump’s remarks, a post from him read, “Such actions in the past might have led to the most severe consequences! The very risk of a U.S.-China conflict could arise from such betrayals. More to come.”
In the wake of these comments, Gen. Milley ensured the public that necessary safety measures are in place to protect himself and his family. When asked by CBS’s Norah O’Donnell about potential threats to his safety, Milley responded affirmatively about the precautions in place.
It’s worth noting that tensions between Milley and the former president aren’t new. They had multiple disagreements during Trump’s tenure. In a recent speech, Milley indirectly referred to Trump by emphasizing that the U.S. military’s allegiance isn’t to any aspiring autocrat. Trump responded to this, criticizing both Milley and Mark Esper, pointing out their decisions and questioning their judgement.
