Hillary Says Trump Has No Credibility Left, Is She Right?

The newly-elected Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson, a Republican from Louisiana, recently appeared on Fox News and expressed concerns about President Biden’s cognitive capabilities. When questioned by Fox News anchor Sean Hannity about whether he believes the President is experiencing cognitive decline and if it poses a risk to the country, Johnson acknowledged the concern.

“Yes, I believe many of us recognize that. It isn’t a personal attack on President Biden; it’s a matter of age and mental sharpness, and everyone ages in their own way,” Johnson explained. He went on to say that anyone comparing Biden’s past Senate speeches with his current public addresses would notice a difference. “This isn’t intended as an insult; it’s simply an observation based on evidence,” he emphasized.

Johnson assumed the role of Speaker after weeks of upheaval in the House of Representatives, where Republicans struggled to elect his predecessors. The President and Johnson had a meeting at the White House shortly after his election. President Biden expressed his intent to work collaboratively with the new Speaker in a statement, highlighting past bipartisan efforts on various issues such as infrastructure and veterans’ care.

However, a spokesperson for Biden’s re-election campaign presented a less congenial view, framing Johnson’s rise to the speakership as evidence of an increasing radicalization of the House Republican caucus. The spokesperson accused Johnson of being a “devoted adherent” to Donald Trump’s agenda, with aims to enact extreme policies that would affect middle-class families.

During the Fox News interview, Johnson also expressed support for the ongoing impeachment inquiry against the President. The inquiry had been initiated by his predecessor, Kevin McCarthy, and Johnson cited financial records as evidence supporting the probe. “As my colleague Jamie Comer often states, ‘The financial statements don’t deceive,’ and now we have substantial evidence to validate our concerns,” Johnson noted.
