Marjorie Taylor Abuses Trump
Marjorie Taylor Greene sharply criticized Donald Trump on Sunday following his latest comments about Iran, calling his rhetoric extreme and urging those around him to push for a more measured approach.
Trump had earlier posted on Truth Social warning of potential U.S. strikes targeting infrastructure in Iran if a deal is not reached to reopen the Strait of Hormuz. His message, which included forceful language, drew immediate attention given the timing on Easter morning and the ongoing conflict in the region.
Greene responded on X by sharing Trump’s post and expressing concern about its tone and implications. She called on members of the administration who identify as Christian to reflect on their positions and encourage restraint, arguing that leadership should prioritize de-escalation rather than intensifying conflict.
The dispute comes as tensions remain high over Iran’s restrictions on shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global trade route responsible for transporting a significant portion of the world’s oil supply. Those disruptions have contributed to rising energy prices worldwide, including increases at U.S. gas pumps.
Greene argued that the current situation stems from broader geopolitical decisions and questioned the necessity of continued military involvement. She also emphasized that regional allies have their own defense capabilities and suggested the United States should avoid deeper entanglement.
The criticism reflects an ongoing divide within political circles over U.S. policy in the Middle East. Greene has been outspoken in her opposition to the conflict, previously accusing Trump of straying from his campaign message of avoiding new wars.
In her remarks, she also framed the issue in moral and religious terms, encouraging a focus on peace and compassion. She urged leaders to pursue diplomatic solutions and warned that continued escalation could have serious consequences for civilians caught in the conflict.
