Pentagon Caught Hiding Secret From Trump

A new report has raised questions about whether the Pentagon fully disclosed the number of U.S. service members injured during recent Iranian attacks that killed American troops in Jordan.

According to The New York Times, several current and former U.S. officials, speaking anonymously, said additional injuries to American personnel and damage to military helicopters were not publicly reported following Iran’s missile strikes on U.S. positions in Jordan.

The attacks came amid escalating tensions between Washington and Tehran after negotiations over a memorandum of understanding between the two countries broke down. President Donald Trump has continued to say he hopes a diplomatic agreement remains possible but has also authorized military operations aimed at preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon.

Speaking to NewsNation over the weekend, Trump said he was no longer focused on reaching a deal while the fighting continues, signaling that military operations remain the administration’s immediate priority.

According to the Pentagon’s Defense Casualty Analysis System, the conflict has resulted in the deaths of 17 U.S. service members and hundreds of injuries since the war began.

The Defense Department has denied accusations that it concealed casualty information. Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell said the military is not required to publicly report every injury and argued that raw injury totals can be misleading because they include everything from routine training accidents to non-combat-related incidents.

Parnell rejected suggestions that the Pentagon intentionally withheld information, calling the allegations “baseless” and “malicious.” He argued that presenting injury numbers without context creates a misleading picture of the military’s casualty reports and unnecessarily fuels concern about the ongoing conflict.

While the Trump administration has publicly honored the American service members killed in the fighting, officials have provided few details about the long-term military strategy as operations against Iran continue.
