Financial Records Reveal Trump Investigator Appointed by Fani Willis Purchased Her Airline Tickets
Georgia’s special prosecutor Nathan Wade, reportedly in a romantic relationship with Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, is said to have purchased plane tickets for her, as revealed in a court document.
The legal team for Wade’s estranged wife, Joycelyn Wade, submitted documents on Friday that included bank statements from 2022. These records show Nathan Wade buying flights to Miami and San Francisco for himself and Willis. A trip to Miami in October 2022 included a third ticket for a Clara Bowman, and another set of tickets to San Francisco for Wade and Willis was bought in April 2023.
Joycelyn Wade’s attorneys are pushing to have Willis testify in the divorce, suggesting that the trips imply a romantic connection between her and Nathan Wade. Willis is currently embroiled in controversy for allegedly having an improper relationship with Nathan Wade, whom she appointed to lead the prosecution of former President Donald Trump and others over the 2020 election in Georgia.
Willis, subpoenaed for a deposition in the divorce case set for January 23, seeks to have the subpoena dismissed. Her lawyer, Cinque Axam, claims Joycelyn Wade is using the civil discovery process to target Willis in relation to her criminal case against Trump.
In response, Wade’s lawyers deny intentions of harassment, instead seeking relevant information about the relationship between their client’s husband and Willis, including any financial involvement.
The bank statements indicate Nathan Wade’s purchase of tickets for himself and Willis but don’t conclusively prove an affair. Willis has not explicitly denied a romantic relationship.
These allegations first emerged last week when a lawyer for Trump co-defendant Michael Roman accused Willis and Nathan Wade of an improper relationship and misuse of public funds. While direct evidence was lacking, the lawyer pointed to the Wade divorce case for proof.
The lawyer also suggested that Willis’s alleged relationship with Wade poses a conflict of interest, with Willis financially benefiting from vacations funded by his law firm’s earnings from the Trump case.
County records show Wade’s firm received nearly $654,000 in legal fees since January 2022, approved by Willis. Additional expenses on Wade’s bank statements include payments for a cruise and various hotel and travel bookings, implying Willis’s involvement in these trips.
Joycelyn Wade contends that these records indicate Willis as a travel companion on some of these excursions. The strong response in court filings by Wade’s legal team underscores the personal and contentious nature of this case.
