Should Biden Be Impeached For Causing The Border Crisis?
Polls Show Biden’s Approval Ratings Declining as Trump’s Rise
President Joe Biden’s polling figures are on a downward trajectory, while former President Donald Trump, currently leading in the GOP presidential nomination race, is witnessing an upward trend in his poll numbers. This shift indicates potential challenges for Biden’s re-election campaign.
In recent head-to-head polls against Trump, Biden’s performance has been weaker in most of the surveys conducted by 13 different pollsters. A New York Times/Siena College poll earlier this month showed Trump leading in four out of six key swing states, as reported by Politico.
While Biden’s declining numbers mainly result from voters moving away from him, it doesn’t necessarily translate into direct support for Trump. However, Trump’s national polling average has risen, with him leading by significant margins in states like Arizona and Michigan.
Biden’s declining popularity stems from various factors, including the loss of young voters, the Israel-Hamas conflict, and the impact of independent and third-party candidates. A recent NBC News poll showed Trump leading Biden among voters under 35 by four percentage points.
Despite Biden holding single-digit leads among 18-34-year-olds in Morning Consult, Fox News, and Quinnipiac University polls, Trump maintains a lead in overall voter preference.
The shift in young voters’ attitudes could be influenced by their opposition to the Biden administration’s stance on the Israel-Hamas conflict, although many may still vote for Biden in the next election.
Biden’s approval rating has also dipped, reaching its lowest since July 2022, at 38%, according to a FiveThirtyEight average. Conversely, Trump’s overall average rating has risen, almost matching his 2020 vote share, as indicated by the RealClearPolitics average.
Including undecided voters, Trump’s figures show a slight increase, like in a Fox News poll where he leads Biden by 50% to 46%.
Swing states are also trending away from Biden, despite a significant advertising campaign targeting these states. Polls by Morning Consult and Bloomberg News indicate Trump leading in most swing states, with Noble Predictive Insights and EPIC-MRA polls showing him ahead in key states like Arizona and Michigan that Biden won in 2020.
