Should Nikki Haley Drop Out of 2024 Presidential Race?

DeSantis Insinuates Trump Receives Favorable Treatment From Press

On Sunday, Ron DeSantis, a contender in the Republican presidential race, criticized the media for their lenient approach towards former President Trump, particularly regarding Trump’s absence from the GOP primary debates.

During his appearance on Fox News’s “MediaBuzz,” DeSantis expressed disapproval of Trump’s decision to skip the upcoming Republican presidential debate in Iowa, set for Wednesday. This event will feature DeSantis and Nikki Haley, the former UN ambassador.

Instead of participating in the debate, Trump has chosen to appear in a townhall on Fox, scheduled at the same time.

DeSantis, commenting on Trump’s strategy for the upcoming Wednesday, noted, “He could easily be present in Iowa to engage in the debate and face questions. His choice to avoid this indicates a reluctance to be held accountable.” He added that Trump has consistently avoided debates and limited his campaign activities, relying heavily on favorable media coverage. “This approach has worked for him so far, but I believe it will be a disadvantage when the caucuses arrive,” DeSantis remarked.

In the latest national polling average by The Hill/Decision Desk HQ for the GOP primary, Trump leads with 64.1 percent support, followed by Haley at 11.3 percent and DeSantis close behind at 11 percent.

Trump’s lead in Iowa is narrower but still significant. He holds 51.6 percent support, with DeSantis at 18 percent and Haley at 17.1 percent.

The Iowa caucuses, scheduled for January 15, are the inaugural event in the 2024 presidential election cycle.
