President Donald Trump is weighing in on the sudden departure of Maria Bartiromo from Fox News, warning that the longtime host’s large audience is unlikely to be pleased with the network’s decision.

Trump addressed Bartiromo’s exit Thursday night in a post on Truth Social, expressing disbelief that she would no longer be hosting her programs on Fox News and Fox Business. He praised her as a professional and described her as a “true warrior,” while suggesting that her supporters would be unhappy to see her leave.

Bartiromo’s exit was announced by Fox News earlier Thursday after more than 12 years with the network. Fox provided few details about the circumstances surrounding the decision, saying only that it appreciated her work and wished her well in her next chapter.

Her departure immediately resulted in changes across several Fox programs. Thursday’s edition of “Mornings with Maria” was her final episode, with the program moving forward under the name “Mornings with Fox Business” and using rotating anchors. Her weekly “Maria Bartiromo’s Wall Street” program is also being renamed “FBN’s Wall Street,” with Cheryl Casone taking the hosting duties initially.

Bartiromo’s weekend program, “Sunday Morning Futures,” is also undergoing a temporary change. Former Rep. Jason Chaffetz is scheduled to host this Sunday while Fox determines who will take over the program permanently.

The longtime financial journalist became one of the most prominent television personalities associated with Trump during his presidency. She regularly interviewed Trump and his allies and frequently discussed his economic agenda, including his positions on trade and other financial issues.

Before joining Fox Business, Bartiromo spent about two decades at CNBC after beginning her television career at CNN. Her career in financial journalism made her a familiar face to viewers well before she became a major presence on Fox.

Her tenure at Fox also included legal battles involving coverage of the 2020 presidential election. In 2021, voting technology company Smartmatic sued Fox News, Bartiromo and other figures, alleging that false election-related claims had damaged the company. Bartiromo denied the allegations, and she and Fox sought to have the case dismissed.

She was also questioned under oath as part of Dominion Voting Systems’ separate defamation lawsuit against Fox News. Her “Sunday Morning Futures” program had featured Trump and his allies following the 2020 election as they continued to challenge President Joe Biden’s victory.

Despite those controversies, Bartiromo remained a major figure at Fox and maintained a prominent platform covering politics, business and the financial markets.

Now, her sudden departure leaves several established programs in transition — and Trump’s public reaction shows just how closely Bartiromo had become associated with his political movement and media audience.
