President Donald Trump suggested Saturday that he may replace portions of the planned Freedom 250 concert series with a major rally and speech of his own after a growing number of performers withdrew from the event.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump criticized several artists who have recently backed out of the celebrations, accusing them of losing confidence and describing them as performers who were no longer enthusiastic about participating.

The president did not mention any artists by name, but his comments came amid continued turmoil surrounding the Freedom 250 Great American State Fair, a 16-day celebration scheduled to take place on the National Mall in Washingtonfrom June 25 through July 10.

Trump indicated he is considering transforming part of the event into what he called an “America Is Back” rally, potentially shifting the focus away from some of the planned musical performances.

The remarks follow a wave of high-profile cancellations that have significantly reduced the concert lineup. Several performers, including country singer Martina McBride and legendary R&B group The Commodores, recently announced they would no longer participate.

Some artists said they initially believed the event would be a nonpartisan celebration of America’s 250th anniversary before learning more about its connections to Trump and his political movement.

McBride stated that the event had been presented differently than she expected and expressed concern that some fans might mistakenly believe she had abandoned the values reflected in her music.

The ongoing controversy has led to major changes in the entertainment lineup. However, performers including Flo Ridaand Vanilla Ice are still scheduled to appear as of now.

Freedom 250 organizers have maintained that the celebration is intended to be nonpartisan and focused on honoring America’s history and culture. Critics, however, have argued that the event has become closely associated with Trump and the broader MAGA movement.

Construction work for the Great American State Fair has continued on the National Mall despite the cancellations, with organizers planning exhibits, cultural showcases, state pavilions, and other attractions in addition to live entertainment.

It remains unclear whether Trump will ultimately replace any of the concerts with a rally or speech, and organizers have not yet provided details about potential changes to the event schedule.

With America’s 250th anniversary celebrations approaching, the future direction of the Freedom 250 festival remains uncertain as organizers work to address performer withdrawals while preparing for what is expected to be one of the largest patriotic gatherings of the year.
