Garland: I’d Step Down if Biden Pressured Me on Trump Decisions “However, there’s no indication of such a scenario unfolding,” he mentioned during a conversation.

While Attorney General Merrick Garland has been reserved about the ongoing cases, he clarified on Sunday that the timing of these cases wasn’t intended to sabotage Trump’s potential 2024 presidential run.

“Such allegations are baseless. Our prosecutors at the Justice Department are impartial and don’t let political biases influence their decisions,” Garland emphasized.

He further stated that President Biden has never interfered in the investigations. Addressing the criticism surrounding the recent indictment of the president’s son, Hunter Biden, on a firearm-related charge, Garland said, “We don’t differentiate based on political affiliations. Our only guiding principle is to uphold the law, safeguard civil liberties, and act in line with the Constitution.”

Visibly emotional, Garland expressed his deep concerns about the rising threats of violence, especially when those involved in the Trump-related cases have received death threats.

“Debates and disagreements are part of our democracy, but resorting to violence or threats is unacceptable,” he asserted. “For our democracy to thrive, it’s crucial that we treat each other with respect, embrace differing opinions, and most importantly, steer clear of violence.”
