Hillary Has A Mental Breakdown
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton sharply criticized Acting Director of National Intelligence Bill Pulte, warning that his leadership of the nation’s intelligence community should raise concerns and suggesting some government officials should be cautious about sharing sensitive information with him.
Speaking on the Defending Democracy with Marc Elias podcast, Clinton argued that Americans should be concerned about what she described as a partisan takeover of the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. She noted that the position was created after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks to improve coordination among agencies such as the CIA, the National Security Agency, and other intelligence organizations.
Clinton said the office plays a central role in collecting and coordinating intelligence across the federal government, giving its director broad access to classified information. She added that she hoped some career employees and political appointees within intelligence agencies would move cautiously when responding to requests from Pulte.
Pulte assumed the role of acting director last month after being selected by President Donald Trump. Soon after taking office, he began implementing staff reductions within the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, a move that drew criticism from Democrats and some former intelligence officials.
Democratic lawmakers have also accused Pulte of using his previous position as director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency to assist the Trump administration in pursuing political opponents through the use of mortgage-related records, an allegation Republicans have rejected.
Sen. Mark Warner of Virginia, the top Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, previously questioned Pulte’s qualifications for the role and argued that someone overseeing the nation’s intelligence agencies must be trusted to handle classified information responsibly.
Earlier this week, Pulte renewed allegations of mortgage fraud involving Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook after the Supreme Court ruled that President Trump could not immediately remove her from office. The dispute added to the growing political controversy surrounding Pulte’s leadership of the intelligence community.
