Apparently, some people have enough time on their hands to determine who the most effective and ineffective lawmakers in Congress are.
They do this by looking at how many “substantive” bills a legislator introduces, as well as how many bills advance into committee, how many get a floor vote, and how many are actually passed into law.
With that in mind, guess who found herself ranked near the bottom of 240 congressional Democrats?
None other than Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez!
Or AOC, for short.
Just the News reports:
New York Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is one of the most ineffective lawmakers in Congress, according to a new study that focuses on legislative bills.
The recently released study by the Center for Effective Lawmaking ranks members of Congress for their effectiveness and found Ocasio Cortez had introduced just 21 “substantive” bills. None of the bills received a committee or final floor vote.
“She introduced a lot of bills, but she was not successful at having them receive any sort of action in committee or beyond committee, and if they can’t get through committee, they cannot pass the House,” Alan Wiseman, a Vanderbilt political scientist and co-director of the center, told The New York Post.
“It’s clear that [Ocasio-Cortez] was trying to get her legislative agenda moving and engage with the lawmaking process,” Wiseman said “But she wasn’t as successful as some other members were – even among [other] freshmen – at getting people to pay attention to her legislation.”
According to the study, Ocasio-Cortez was ranked 230 out of 240 congressional Democrats and ranked last among the York Democratic caucus.Just The News
Just so it’s clear how ineffective AOC is, she ranks in the bottom 1 percent. In other words, 99 percent of congressional Democrats are more effective legislators than she is.
Thank God, right?
It’s truly a blessing that Ocasio-Cortez is so ineffective. Otherwise we’d have all sorts of financially ruinous laws getting passed, and we’d be taxed into oblivion so AOC can try to create her unattainable green utopia.
Let’s hope and pray that AOC remains ineffective throughout her political career. Quite frankly, it’s for the best — for you, for me, for America.
