Biden Campaign Addresses Obama’s Concerns, Unites Against Trump for 2024
Quentin Fulks, the principal deputy campaign manager for President Biden’s reelection campaign, recently addressed criticisms reportedly made by former President Obama regarding the structure of Biden’s campaign and concerns about Trump’s political strength in 2024. In an NBC News’s “Meet the Press” interview, Fulks emphasized the alignment between Obama and Biden on the necessity of defeating Trump and the threat posed by MAGA extremists to democracy.
Fulks highlighted that both Obama and Biden frequently communicate, as do their respective campaign teams. He underscored Biden’s experience working with Obama and their shared commitment to countering the risks posed by Donald Trump to democratic values.
Regarding The Washington Post’s report about Obama’s advice to Biden during a White House lunch in December, which suggested enhancing top-level decision-making in the campaign or empowering those in Wilmington, Del., Fulks did not directly address any potential campaign structural changes. However, he pointed out that Biden’s campaign has been proactive since its announcement in April, focusing on innovative organizing, reaching diverse voter groups, and making significant investments in constituency media.
Fulks stressed that the Biden campaign is now entering a phase where more Americans are engaging with the election process. He mentioned Biden’s recent speech at Valley Forge and an upcoming event in South Carolina as examples of the campaign’s efforts to communicate their message to the American public. He reiterated the campaign’s approach of treating democracy as a critical issue in the upcoming election.
